Spyware (aka "Adware, Malware, mini-virus")

If you own a computer at your home or business and are unfamiliar with what "Spyware" is, PLEASE READ ON! In this day and age, if you want your pc to stay healthy and run as the day you purchased it, then there are some necessary steps in both ridding and preventing malicious software from inhabiting your investment! The definition of Spyware is as follows:

"Generically, spyware (spelled all lower case) is any software application in which advertising banners are displayed while the program is running. The authors of these applications include additional code that delivers the ads, which can be viewed through pop-up windows or through a bar that appears on a computer screen. The justification for spyware is that it helps recover programming development cost and helps to hold down the cost for the user.
.....any software (that) employs a user's Internet connection in the background (the so-called 'backchannel') without their knowledge or explicit permission. Silent background use of an Internet 'backchannel' connection must be preceded by a complete and truthful disclosure of proposed backchannel usage, followed by the receipt of explicit, informed consent for such use. Any software communicating across the Internet absent of these elements is guilty of information theft and is properly and rightfully termed: Spyware."

The realism
It is obvious to some of us to know that "computing" is not anywhere what it used to be. The concept remains the same, but that's about it. Technology is an ever-changing subject, and for one to assume that our pc's of today, along with the monitor, keyboard and mouse will always look the same as today, I would venture to say they assume wrong.
My point being that as well as computers change, the "software" installed on them changes also. We must be able to distinguish between "what software is supposed to be running, and what is not.
